Miss Teen Magoffin Pageant

The Miss Teen Magoffin County Pageant was held Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Pioneer Village in Salyersville at 8:00 p.m. The pageant, under the direction of Tanika Howard McFarland, was hosted by John Mischel. Five beautiful contestants competed in the following categories: private interview, sportswear, and evening gown. This year’s theme is “Let's Get This Party Started” in celebration of Magoffin County's 150th birthday. The reigning Miss Teen Magoffin County, Lindsey Phillips was present to relinquish her crown, which she has worn so proudly.

The Miss Magoffin County Scholarship Pageant will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 8:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Village in Salyersville. Pageant Director Jincy Bailey is very excited to have five beautiful and talented contestants to compete for the crown of Miss Magoffin County 2010-2011. The contestants will compete in four competitions: judge’s interview, physical fitness in swimsuit, talent, and evening wear.

Rogers Announces $1,648,973 for Salyersville Water System Improvements

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Hal Rogers (KY-05) announced today that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority and the Kentucky Coal Severance fund, will award $1,648,973 to the City of Salyersville to upgrade the region’s water systems. This project is expected to improve water services to 3,900 households and 123 businesses.
