Magoffin County Health Department hosted “UNDER THE BIG TOP” Friday, July 23. The event focused on keeping kids healthy, by offering health education, physical activities, healthy snacks and games.
Ronald McDonald made a special appearance to help promote kids’ health.
“We’re just really glad to be a part of this – to see happy, healthy kids. We’ve had a great summer, but good health needs to be good fun, too,” Ronald said.
Despite the heat advisory and temperatures nearing 100 degrees, more than 300 participants showed up to learn about health, as well as have fun in the process.
Throughout the parking lot were big tents, each with different activities. Activities included dental varnishing, nutrition booths, playing with Diesel the dog, healthy snacks and drinks to stay hydrated and playing games. Kids could score some points in basketball, hula-hoop or fish for rubber duckies out of a pool of water.
