Raiders no match for the Hornets

Last Friday night, our very own Magoffin County Hornets defeated the South Floyd Raiders by a margin of 20 points. The 46-26 win was not only a major confidence boost, but a big relief, as well.

The Miss Magoffin County Scholarship Pageant will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 8:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Village in Salyersville. Pageant Director Jincy Bailey is very excited to have five beautiful and talented contestants to compete for the crown of Miss Magoffin County 2010-2011. The contestants will compete in four competitions: judge’s interview, physical fitness in swimsuit, talent, and evening wear.

John Short, with the prime help of Magoffin County, defeated Ancel “Hard Rock” Smith for the Democratic nomination for State Representative. Short will now face Republican Ruby Edward Couch from Knott County in the General Election.
